Located in the heart of historic Santa Fe on Canyon Road, Nancy Traugott's designs suggest an ease on one's own path & a life lived authentically. Created from the elements of earth, sun, & rain, fabrics & colors materialize a kind of alchemy that is always perfect for its time and place. Slips & dresses are attuned to reflect the movements of the surrounding landscape, weather, & the bodies that inhabit them. Silk & linen are dyed by hand, & bias-cuts & unfinished seams form graceful lines & flattering definitions. Each piece is locally designed & made by artisanal seamstresses.
The shop is an extension of our light-filled studio tucked into the back; black & white photographs, drawings, and pieces of handwriting are pinned to the wall. They accumulate into inspirations which slowly make their way into sketches, edits & style sheets, eventually becoming patterns to be stitched into samples. Our photoshoots are created to bring the garments to those close to us; our models have collaborated or worked within the shop & are an extension of our community in Northern New Mexico. Each step in this practice in an integral & intimate part of our daily practice — a materialization of the dream, a new, small overlay in its history.
